The laser cutting machine cannot be operated or placed in a humid environment. It is important to protect the laser cutting machine from moisture. Ignorance will bring problems, such as a black screen of the operator’s computer, failing start of a system unit, laser alarm, and switch tripping, thus influencing production. Therefore, it is advised to comply with measures to prevent laser cutting machines from moisture to guarantee the normal operation of the laser cutting machine.
Reduce indoor humidity
(1) Use activated charcoal to prevent moisture and humidity
Activated charcoal can be used not only to dehumidify but also to purify air to remove odor. The main ingredients of common activated charcoal are calcium fluoride and activated carbon, which are ideal dehumidification substances. Activated charcoal is normally manufactured into small dehumidification boxes only applicable to small spaces, such as control cabinets and electrical cabinets of the laser cutting machines. Activated charcoal is able to effectively absorb moisture and remove odor. Using activated charcoal in humid weather reduces the humidity in control cabinets and electrical cabinets, thus decreasing the chances of equipment failure caused by moisture.
(2) Open windows for ventilation in sunny weather
In rainy or cloudy weather, it is best not to open windows to block the hot and humid airflow into the house. When the weather is fine, it is recommended to selectively open windows for ventilation to reduce indoor humidity, creating suitable air conditions for the laser cutting machine.
(3) Use lime for dehumidification
According to research, every 1 kg of quicklime can absorb about 0.3 kg of moisture in the air. Lime is able to effectively absorb moisture. If laser cutting machines are placed in a room whose air conditions are humid and whose ground is condensed, quicklime put in cloth bags can be positioned in its corners to bring about the effect of rapid moisture removal and drying.
(4) Use air conditioners for dehumidification.
The use of an air conditioner is also viable for dehumidification in humid weather. An air conditioner can work as a dryer under its dehumidification function, effectively reducing indoor humidity to generate good conditions conducive to the stable operation of the laser cutting machine.
(5) Regularly clean dust in electrical cabinets to remove dust and absorb moisture
Dust is also very easy to absorb water vapor in the air. Therefore, regular dusting of the electrical cabinets can also effectively reduce the environmental humidity of the cabinet.
Starting and operating laser cutting machines is prohibited when the outside of the electrical cabinet vapors.
If water vapor is produced on the outside of the electrical cabinet, it is recommended to first dry the water vapor on the surface of the electrical cabinet, open the dehumidification function of the air conditioner after half an hour, turn on the power of the laser cutting machine, and then observe condition to ensure its stable operation.
Regularly check the drainage of air compressors, filter cartridges, refrigerant dryers, and other components. Avoid contamination of the lens of the laser cutting head and the air pipeline of machine tools due to the failure of the normal operation of air compressor drainage.
In humid weather, pay special attention to anti-static and lightning protection. Operators should never wear slippers and be responsible for checking whether the ground wire is grounded from time to time.
